I wanted to incorporate video into the blog on this journey. I’ve had a GoPro Hero 3 Black for about 10 years, although I hadn’t used it for quite a while. So I resurrected it from the electronics bin I store all my gadgets in and charged it up.
This is a quick video of me riding down Main Street approaching downtown Brighton, MI. It was captured in 1080P at 48 fps (frames per second) on the Wide setting.
I’ve recorded a lot of video over the years and never thought much about the quality until I saw a YouTube video with a newer GoPro. So, I ordered a GoPro Hero 10 Black and took this video below. It’s recorded in 4k at 60 fps on Wide.
Did you notice the top of my helmet in both videos? Using the Hero 3, you can see my helmet barely moves on the paved road, but the video itself is very shaky. Using the Hero 10, you can see my helmet bouncing quite a bit on the dirt road but the video itself is super smooth. The image stabilization is unbelievable!!! The video itself is much clearer too due to the 4k resolution, so the overall quality of the video is pretty impressive. The file size of the 4K video is 3x the 1080 video, so it may take longer to actually play (depending on your connection speed.)
Now all I need are the green trees, the blue skies, and all the rest of the summer colors to produce something worth watching. It’s definitely a keeper for the trip!
Need to hit some big jumps. Redbull gives you wings. lol
